Don't Call My Name... Fernando!

The news that has dominated this transfer window, or should I say the last 3 days, has been that Fernando Torres wishes to leave Liverpool FC. That’s right, the Liverpool number 9 wants a move away from the Reds, with rivals Chelsea looking a likely destination. Being a Liverpool fan myself I find myself confused and heart broken. The main questions to be asked to Torres is why now and not wait till the end of the season?

Torres joined Liverpool in the summer of 2007. He was the one good thing that came out of the horrendous Hicks & Gillett regime. I remember when he signed, thinking the club I love have finally signed a class striker after Michael Owen. He was young, skilful and had a hunger for goals. He was even given the number 9 shirt, which was vacated by God. It was an exciting time for Red fans. However what excited me most about Torres was the fact that he loved the club. He was a player who wanted to play for the Redmen and I don’t need to remind you what his armband at Madrid said.

He became an instant hit with the Kop, getting his first goal in his 2nd game (ironically against Chelsea). His debut season ended with him hitting 33 goals, 24 of those coming in the league. The fans were bouncing, as El Nino was becoming a Kop favourite. In my eyes, Torres became a legend when he netted against Man Utd in a 1-4 scoreline holding 5 fingers up towards the Utd fans… get in lad!

Liverpool was in his heart and he was one of a few foreign players who understood the Liverpool Way.  So why now does he want to depart from a club he supposedly loves?

This season hasn’t gone according to plan for Liverpool. Having hired a Mr Hodgson, results were not going his way and the fans had got tired of the horrible performances and awful post-match interviews. During this period it was obvious players weren’t happy and you could see this in their performances particularly Torres’. In came The King to put some life into a fallen giant and instil some of the Liverpool ethos into the team. Straight away you could see the players were happier and you could see that they were playing football again. The King even helped Torres start scoring again. Fans finally could smile and look forward to the rest of the season.

The transfer window opened and Liverpool were on the verge of signing Luis Suarez, another class player, signalling the intent that the new owners mean business. I was relieved by this, as we finally had another forward to partner Torres, who has been playing up front himself since arriving. Fans had something to be excited about again, and I certainly thought Torres would be too.

On Friday, news reached that the Suarez deal had been confirmed. But another headline overshadowing the deal was the bid from Chelsea. Thinking it was a rumour; I brushed it off with laughter. But the “rumour” gathered momentum, and I started having doubts. Then the news that shocked me and nearly every Liverpool fan – “Torres hand in transfer request”. What the f*ck!? One of my favourite players wants to leave Liverpool FC!? A team he supposedly loved!? The whole thing reminded me of the Steven Gerrard scenario, and we all knew how that ended. But this was different. This felt like it was actually going to go through.

The timing of the request has been a disgrace. Why Torres has decided to leave now is beyond me. If he had any respect to the club or fans he would wait till the summer. Leaving now makes no sense and gives us no time to find a replacement. I understand Chelsea are playing Champions League football and are closer to qualification than Liverpool, but are those the real reasons? Liverpool haven’t been playing the football they should be for a while, however they have turned a corner since getting rid of the plague that was Hicks/Gillett and installed a manager who is capable of rebuilding the club. However leaving like this will mean him losing his massive fan base of Liverpool supporters, and don’t be surprised to see them boo him in a weeks time. I for one am pissed off!

Now, if Liverpool does decide to cash in on Torres then £50 million should be the minimum asking price. There is a lot of talk of Anelka being included in a £40 million deal, however you have to ask, is Anelka worth £10 million. I would prefer the cash and fight it out the rest of the season with what we have. I’m sure The King can keep us climbing up the table till then. Could he maybe give Dani Pacheco a chance?

So, Liverpool may have to start the 2nd half of the season without El Nino. He will definitely be missed, but then again so was Owen and look how that turned out. Good luck Fernando, hope it works out for you. I guess your armband was a load of bollocks!

I guess we can start singing this - His armband proved he was a Red Suarez, Suarez. You'll never walk alone it said Suarez Suarez. He bought the band from a lad in Spain, tall blonde hair forgotten his name Luis Suarez Liverpool's number 7!

Deadmau5 - 4x4=12

Deadmau5 - 4x4=12

Deadmau5 (real name Joel Zimmerman) returns with a new album “4x4=12”, but has the Canadian born DJ delivered a masterpiece?

The music scene has changed vastly since his last album, with producers/DJ’s being influenced by a certain “dub-step”. However Deadmau5 has got the mixture just right in this album. “4x4=12” introduces dub-step and vocal tracks mixed with the sound of Deadmau5 which fans have grown to love over the years. If you’re new to Deadmau5 this album is a great album to buy as it shows the DJ at his best.

The album is 11 tracks long and in my opinion all tracks off the album instant hits. The two that stand out for me however has got to be “Raise Your Weapon” and “Sofi Needs A Ladder”. Both feature female vocals, which compliment the beats nicely. I’m not use to hearing a Deadmau5 track with vocals, however both tracks are absolute hits and just shows Deadmau5 broadening his music skills. These 2 tracks alone are worth buying the album for. Also the introduction of dub-step in his tracks works nicely and just shows how talented he is.

Mr Zimmerman has released an album, which in my opinion shows what the DJ is about. This is exactly the kind of album that makes him unique and why fans love his music. This album definitely gets top marks. I recently brought tickets to a Deadmau5 gig and can’t wait hear these tracks get blasted!!

Can Snyder Make Us Believe A Man Can Fly?

News came in this week that Zack Snyder has been confirmed to direct the new Superman movie. I am extremely excited that he has got the gig. Snyder has directed/produced some amazing movies, more so the look of his movies are epic.

Zack Snyder to direct the new Superman movie

I became a fan of Snyder from watching his testosterone fuelled movie 300. That movie, in my opinion, was best visually created movie I have ever seen. Everything from the cast, script, sound to the battle scenes was immense.

Next up for Synder was Watchmen. I must admit, I didn't know anything about the Watchmen until I watched the movie, so I can't really compare it to the comic books. However from what I saw, it was a decent movie and a decent comic book adaption. I have certainly seen far worse than Watchmen.

Synder has 2 movies being released soon. The first is Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole and the second Sucker Punch. From watching the trailers both movies look visually stunning. LOTG is a completely CGI movie based around owls. When I first read about I was a bit put off by the idea. However watching the trailer it looks pretty cool. Then came along Sucker Punch. I didn't know much about this movie, however again from watching the trailer... it looks frickin' AMAZING! Sexy girls kicking ass in a fantasy world. Its like Alice in Wonderland meets Lord of The Rings and together taking ecstasy and redbull!! (I do not condone drugs... and they are bad and illegal) The Sucker Punch trailer can be found here:

From these movies Snyder has landed a huge movie in his lap. I am a huge fan of Superman, and I hope this don't mess up! I have been waiting years for a decent Superman movie to grace our screens. Finally, Superman Returns arrived on the big screen a few years back however it didn't do the franchise any justice. It wasn't a total disaster, however I considered it to be a let down. Most of the dialogue was taken from the original Superman movie. Yes I know it was more of a homage to Donner's movies, however for me it needed to kick ass in every department and for me it didn't. I thought it would bring in new fans and introduce them to The Man of Steel, however I think it lost more than it gained. With Batman getting a reboot and taking the box office by storm (both movies were great and original), Superman didn't. I could really go on about Superman Returns, but I'm not... ok 1 last thing. Superboy!? Where were they going to go with that!? Oh and one more thing, why change the LOGO!?

With Snyder I think we can expect Superman to return to his rightful place up on the super hero movie podium. We can definetley expect the movie to look visually great. I also think the movie will be darker, not as dark as Dark Knight, but it will have an element of it. Even though we've been hearing that the script has been rushed, I don’t think Snyder would have accepted if it was a rushed script. Also I think that if it was I’m sure he would iron it out. Another point would be that Nolan is overseeing the project and I don’t believe he would rush a movie as big as Superman.

I seriously believe this movie is going to be the Superman movie every fan hoped for and I think Snyder is the best director they chose. With General Zod returning to be the villain we can only expect the best. I just hope Brandon Routh is brought back to play Superman/Clark Kent because I thought he nailed the character in Superman Returns. I hope this movie lives up to the hype and I can’t wait!! What are your thoughts?

What d'you call it? Dub-Step!!

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!

Dub-Step, I would say, is a new music genre to grace the stage. In my opinion it is a cross between drum & bass and electronic beats. The main characteristic of dub-step is the HEAVY bass line drops.

Dub-Step has blown up since its arrival. Before you would only hear it on pirate radio stations and select clubs such as Fabric (London). Now it has made it way to commercial radio and now slowly leaking into UK charts. But is this a good thing?

I remember when garage was coming out many years ago. Starting out, it was like getting a blo*job while someone was licking your ears! Garage was cool, hip and new. However as it came into the mainstream the quality of tracks decreased and you got artists like Dane Bowers having a shot at it and failing.

I am hoping Dub-Step does not follow the same path. Skream, Benga, Caspa, Emalkay and Nero to name but a few are flying the flag high for Dub-Step. But are we going to see the likes of Cheryl Cole or The Saturdays trying to get a piece of the Dub-Step pie? Only time will tell. But I have to give credit to how Dub-Step has become as popular as it is and becoming commercial with tracks like Benga produced On A Misson by Katy B. Skream's new album, Outside The Box, has taken the genre in a slightly new direction. You won't find baseline after baseline of tracks, but you will hear a more electronic side to the genre and dare I say, a more "chilled out" side. However I like it!!

I personally am liking the commercial tracks which are getting the spotlight and I hope it continues. Dub-Step is MUSIC which has many forms and people are either going to love it or hate it. Lets just hope we don't get Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg having a go on there own!
